Leave the Healthcare Industry Alone

Part of the stimulus package (yeah thought I'd add a "stimulating picture to this post) includes some provisions for health care. My my is there any part of America that this stimulus package didn't touch?

OK so for you who can peel your eyes off the hot babe to the right of this script here's what the stimulus package has set for the Health Care Industry!

1. The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. I don't think I want my medical records online... sorry boys and girls, that's my personal shit!

2. One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). Daschle came up with this gooby crap in is book. I think my DOCTOR knows best, and I don't want anyone but my doctor telling me what I need and what I don't need.

This health bill also adds PENALTIES for those dr.'s or hospitals who do not want to comply: Hospitals and doctors that are not “meaningful users” of the new system will face penalties. “Meaningful user” isn’t defined in the bill. That will be left to the HHS secretary, who will be empowered to impose “more stringent measures of meaningful use over time” (511, 518, 540-541) (THIS IS BEGINNING TO SOUND LIKE BIG GOVERNMENT DIPPING IT'S HANDS IN EVERY PORTION OF OUR WORLD).

Ok I'm so totally done with this subject. Give me a freakin break liberals. And you guys claim you like small government....yeah I'm hearin' ya! (A special thanks to SillyMrsTilly for allowing me the honor to put her pic with this post....girl put that needle away!!!)

Anyways, thank you for brining this up! This is part of the stimulus package that really works my nerve. I think if we all take the time to read the monstrostity we'd all find one issue that really just pisses us off..enough of us yell about them and maybe somehow we might be heard.

Diana you baffoon- You are criticizing your lover boy GW Bush when you comedown on the move to computerize medical records. That was his baby! Additionally, you are being completely dissengenuous (Lying) about the thrust and intent of the pending legislation regarding Computerizing medical records:
CLEVELAND - President Bush said Thursday that the medical industry is behind the times, using paper and pen for many records and prescriptions when computerized records could reduce cost and errors.
CLEVELAND - President Bush said Thursday that the medical industry is behind the times, using paper and pen for many records and prescriptions when computerized records could reduce cost and errors.

Bush appointed Dr. David Brailer to help coordinate the move. Brailer said if Americans’ lives can improve by using eBay, there are great benefits to a sort of “medical Internet” where they can retrieve their personal health care information.

Brailer said an estimated 50,000 to 100,000 people die every year from medical errors and contended that centralized data could help doctors and patients keep better track of treatment. He said while many medical records are computerized, such as lab results, drug data and even accounts of office visits in text files, they are not organized or standardized in a format that can be shared.

Brailer acknowledged great challenges to implementing a system available nationwide. All medical workers will need to have compatible technology, and converting records to such a system can be a costly hassle. Privacy and security must be ensured so that only those with patient consent have access to the records, he said.

Bush said he is sensitive to privacy concerns. “I presume I’m like most Americans. I think my medical records to be private. I don’t want people looking at them, I don’t want people, you know, opening them up unless I say it’s fine for you to do so,” he said.

Diana,

The science of informatics and charting software are vital to the advancement of quality healthcare in the United States. We CAN afford this, Diana. YES WE CAN.

We know you would prefer Dick Cheney and the bank CEO's to spend the money on more yachts for themselves, but the rest of the American people agree we would like the money to be invested in improving the quality of life for the other 99% of us since it is, in fact, OUR money.

Whether you like it or not, Diana, the country is moving forward toward investing in ourselves and our middle class, which includes you and yours. Obama will lead the way for us out of this mudd pit of economic insecurity and fear for our own health and safety due to the deteriorating infrastructure that the GOP ignored for 8 years while they got rich on the backs of the hardworking middle class (you).

Why do you cheer them on while you watch FOX news and while greedy rightwingers like Cheney and Palin steal from your own pocket?

Because Democrats tend to put others before themselves, and tend to defend the underdog, the needy, the poor, uneducated, and helpless, our government will see to it that our money is invested here in our own country. Before we spend another trillion dollars so Halliburton can profitt, our levees will be repaired, our bridges will be reinforced, healthcare will be available to the poor just as well as the rich, and education will be affordable for anyone who wants to pursue, just like AMERICA should be.

AMERICA CAN afford to do these things and we may even profit from it, as Obama's plan would ensure. You should be supporting the plan, not radical rightwing propoganda bullshit spewing out of Rush Limbaugh's mouth.
